Recent worldwide trend of carbon recycling focuses on microalgae which produce various useful compounds such as oil, w3 fatty acids and proteins with photosynthetic carbon fixation. Our team mainly target at oleaginous algae Nannochloropsis sp. which accumulates large amount of oil and omega-3 fatty acid eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) in the cell. We aim to clarify “whole metabolic map of Nannnochloropsis oceanica NIES-2145” and establish a platform for metabolic engineering of various useful compounds to achieve appropriate production system of oil and EPA with this valuable organism.
